Home Built - Val Jelobinski - $14,000 ono
Here is our Vintage Style Teardrop Caravan / Camper
Trailer. Inspired by the images from 1940s, but entirely new design and
has been created as one off. Sleeps comfortably 2 Adults and 1 child.
(Full size double bed foam mattress) and 1 Child. (Child bed is 1.4 m.
long and is placed across the sleeping area. Easily removable and is
very spacey for two). I built it in 2009. First registered on
25/11/2009. Registered till 25/11/2011. We have taken it camping 5 times
and it has done about 3500 km in total. Always been garaged (Except for
camping of-course) Has been constructed at my Art Studio in Marrickville
and took about 18 Months in total. By the time I finished it our child
grew out of it and it's too small for us now. I simply need some space
to build a new bigger one, so this one unfortunately has to go.
- Vintage Holden wheels. Frame is new. Everything
has been done from the scratch on the spot. Frame was welded by a
professional welder. Walls are Marine Ply, roof is Fiberglass over
plywood. Front is fibre-glass, Pop Up roof is Aluminium, Pop Up
walls are canvas. Details are Red Gum and Spotted Gum Hardwood.
- Very well balanced trailer and is very easy to
tow! Weight is 440 kg.
- Dimensions: Body 2.4 m x 1.42 m. With tow bar
length 3.5 m. Height 1.8 m.
- 7 Pin flat socket. Inbuilt 3 small solar panels
on the roof and a socket for external panel (included in sale). It
has 3 Separate independent power systems (that guarantee you always
have enough power) 240V socket on side for external connection, 12V
(2 small lithium batteries that are easily charged by 12 Watts of
solar panels in total. One could be connected to charge from car
battery (has everything to connect it to the socket), 6V powered by
Small solar panels on the roof and has a connection for external
Lantern Battery just in case. Except 240 all lights are LED and can
run on a single charge for few days. Has 2 x 12V sockets, one inside
and one in a kitchen area. I run our DVD player or Laptop from those
sockets and it works fine.
- We use Portable Cartridge Gas Stove in the
kitchen (not shown on pictures). Pop up roof have been added later
to add more space and give it more air, when zipper open you can
watch stars. Has insect mesh on all windows including pop up. 3
windows with window winders operable from inside. Curtains on all
windows and window protector on the front of camper that I close
wile on the move. Lots of storage. Entire under bed area 20 cm high,
front compartment accessible from the inside and 3 cupboards under
it's kitchen + 2 draws and 2 cupboards above the kitchen table. Lots
of pockets inside + 1 folding table and a bottle holder. Lots of
lights everywhere inside and in the kitchen.
- More pictures here
http://www.valmast.com (with
some construction history.) I've tried to describe it as accurately
as I could, but maybe I have missed something, so please don't
hesitate to ask any questions.

Home Built - Peter Kimmorley - $8,250 ono
Peter is a friend of Reiner's and a Vietnam Vet who
built this Teardrop about 3 years ago especially to take it to Cape York
and back. Peter has done his big trip and then some, but has now
discovered kayaks and the sea…..so the Teardrop needs to go.
Reiner made the chassis for Peter using a rolled one
piece A-frame making it solid as a rock. Peter then did a terrific
job building the teardrop and included:
- Watertank, fitted sink and 12V water pump
- sparewheel underneath
- AGM Battery
- Suzuki 4WD wheels and springs setup for soft off
road stuff
The teardrop needs a little TLC and finishing touches
but it is 90% finished and very solid. It is ideal for somebody
who hasn’t got the time to build a whole Teardrop but wants to play with
a new toy, turning this one into a very nice setup.
The Teardrop is at Reiner's place here in Brisbane and
at Peter's asking price, it won't last long. So if you are
interested... be quick!
For more information and pictures of
Peters' teardrop build, check out his
homebuilders page on this site. |

of love) and has been on a wildly successful maiden run to Wilson's Prom
(see photo's). Asking price of $4,000 covers materials but doesn't,
of course, reflect the hundreds of hours put into it - so it is a great
buy. |
